What is Corona Resistant Polyimide Film?
Corona resistant polyimide film is a modified kapton-type polyimide film where inorganic nano-fillers are incorporated into the PMDA-ODA polymer matrix to dramatically increase resistance to partial discharge (corona discharge). Standard polyimide film fails under the high-frequency voltage spikes generated by variable frequency drives — CR polyimide film withstands these discharges for ≥80 hours under standardised test conditions, significantly extending motor insulation life in VFD-fed systems.
Three types are available: CR (base film, 25–30 μm), FCR (CR + FEP one side, 38 μm) and FCRF (CR + FEP both sides, 38–42 μm).
